Tom Cruise's gamble in playing a bad guy for the first time would appeared to have paid off as his new film Collateral sits proudly on top of the UK box office chart.
The tense thriller from Heat director Michael Mann sees The Cruiser play an assassin, who enlists the help of Jamie Foxx's cab driver to help him kill six witnesses before they can give evidence.
Collateral took more than 2 million over its opening weekend pushing low-budget shark thriller Open Water off the top spot.
Tom Hanks' feel good romantic comedy The Terminal came in third. The Forrest Gump star plays a man whose country ceases to exist after a military coup leaving him stranded in an American airport terminal.
Frat pack comedy Dodgeball, which stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Rip Torn, held onto fourth place.
The latest in a string of comic book remakes, Hellboy, came in at number five.
UK box office top five:
1) Collateral
2) Open Water
3) The Terminal
4) Dodgeball
5) Hellboy
