Corrie return for Liz

Beverley Callard is to return to Coronation Street as character Liz McDonald later this month.

While the actress has signed a yearlong deal with the popular soap, Daily Mirror sources suggest the contract could be extended.

An unnamed source told the paper: "There will be fur flying when Liz comes back - it'll be brilliant stuff."

Exciting storylines have already been planned for the brassy character, involving a return to her old job at the Rovers Return and open conflict with Leanne Battersby.

Although Callard left the soap in 1998, she has made many appearances since then, the most notable was at the wedding of her son, Steve McDonald.
