The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released data which states that 3.4million complaints were lodged against companies in regards to the final six months of last year. Of these companies, some of Britain’s banks were included on the list.
In total Barclays had 414,302 complaints made against them, which were new, in this time period. Aside from this group, Lloyds TSB, Santander and the Bank of Scotland also featured on the list.
With regards to complaints, Lloyds TSB received 349,386 new ones and Santander; 237,923.
It is understood if the complaints that relate to Lloyds Banking Group were considered on the whole however, this amount would be nearly double the amount of complaints that relate to Barclays.
Reportedly the FCA’s data does not consider the number of customers each company has. Therefore companies such as banks - who generally have large numbers of customers - may have higher figures when it comes to placing their figures against other company’s on matters such as this.
It is worth noting that banks such as Barclays, Lloyds, and Santander reportedly experienced a drop in the number of complaints they were receiving in the six months prior to the period referred to by the FSA.
A spokesman for Barclays said the group are making “progress in driving down banking complaints”; that they are aware “one unhappy customer is one too many” and that they “still have work to do”.
Recently many people have been complaining about payment protection insurance (PPI) with regards to mis-selling.
