Margaret Thatcher’s coffin will rest in chapel before funeral
On the eve of her funeral her coffin will stay overnight in Westminster

The coffin of Baroness Margaret Thatcher will rest overnight in a chapel in Westminster on Tuesday, 16th April. This is ahead of her funeral, which will take place on Wednesday, 17thApril, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Baroness Thatcher’s body will rest in the Chapel of St. Mary Undercroft, which is in the Palace of Westminster. A private service will take place on Tuesday for family members and certain other individuals.
A spokesperson from Number 10 said in a statement: “There will be a short service for around 100 people, led by the Dean of Westminster, to receive the body of Baroness Thatcher in the Chapel.”
With regards to the former Prime Minister’s funeral, it is thought that there is an extensive invitation list. The Queen, who was present at Sir Winston Churchill’s funeral service, is expected to attend the funeral.
There has been much recent controversy surrounding the late Baroness Thatcher.
Based on reports, certain MPs disagree with the timing of her funeral for the reason that it will affect matters concerning parliament. It is thought that some MPs may go against these few MPs who think this. A vote is expected
to be held on Tuesday, 16th April, with regards to this matter.
Also, there are fears that the late Baroness’ funeral may be interrupted by protests on Wednesday, 17th April.
It can be noted that the former PM’s policies were liked by some Britons, but disliked by others. During her lifetime, Baroness Thatcher looked at areas concerning privatisation and poll tax among many other aspects.
Britain’s first female Prime Minister died on Monday last week, the 8th April, aged 87.
