Asda, one of the leading supermarkets in the United Kingdom has launched a 3D printing service allowing customers to clone themselves by producing miniature porcelain models. Customers just have to order a mini version of themselves that could be kept as a souvenir or a thoughtful gift to friends and loved ones.
The service can be taken advantage of at 10 Asda stores across the UK including Manchester, Trafford Park, Liverpool, Edinburgh, York, Havant, Watford, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Cardiff, and Swindon.
The hi-tech machine uses a full body scanner that captures all the necessary details to “clone” the customer. Each model costs £60.
Phil Stout, Head of Innovation and Technology, said: “Our customers are always looking for the next big innovation and Asda was the first to bring affordable 3D printing to the market and during the trial customers were queuing round the block to try it out.
"The possibilities with 3D printing are endless and I’m pleased that we’re ahead of the game in making this truly transformational technology an everyday reality for our customers.”
