The Odds Say Oxford Will Win Again

The annual Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race takes place on Easter Sunday, March 31st, starting at 4:30pm in front of Putney Bridge. This is the 158th race in the historic event that had its inaugural back in 1829.

It became an annual event in 1886, and is expected to draw a local crowd of approximately 252,000 spectators, plus an audience of 100 million worldwide.

So far Cambridge leads the series with 80 wins to Oxfords 76. Last year Oxford won the race by a convincing four lengths and is expected to repeat this year. All of the major bookies, who offer odds for the outright winner, have picked Oxford as the winner as well.

However, if you are the betting type and love the really big odds, you can place wagers on some less definitive categories.

 

Placing wagers on a competition that only has two teams automatically gives you a chance to pick a winner. But the biggest odds and the opportunity for the most winnings come by betting on the intangibles.

 

The biggest odds are being offered on race duration, or betting on how long it will take for the winner to finish.
