Zoe Tate's plan to escape Emmerdale in a seaplane fails to take off this week after she is betrayed by her lover Effie.

Having plotted to flee the Dales with her nanny, accompanied by daughter Jean and nephew Joseph, Zoe is shocked when scheming Sadie King emerges from her escape plane rather than Effie.

The move is all part of Sadie's devious plan to try and get her hands on Home Farm and with Zoe's means of escaping Emmerdale blighted by the bitchy blonde, she is forced to return to the village and face her trial for attacking former lover Scott.

"Zoe is furious when she sees Sadie," says Leah Bracknell, who plays the fleeing filly.

"Its clear Effie has completely betrayed her. Zoe cant even think about making her escape now because Effie is back in Emmerdale with Jean."

But although the outcome of her trial is not yet known, Zoe is set to leave the village one way or another following her botched escape bid.

Thankfully for Leah, her own departure from Emmerdale will be much smoother.

The actress, who is leaving the soap, said: "I do hope that one day Zoe Tate will return, but Im very pleased with the way they have tied up this part of Zoes story."

"I think its a good way for her to go out."
