24-year-old Michelle Chapman wanted to get revenge after she had an argument with her father and stepmother. But her self-created social media war backfired on her.
Chapman has been jailed for 20 months after it was found that she has been trolling herself by bombarding her own Facebook page with abuse.
She made numerous reports against her father, stepmother, and other relatives alleging them of sending her vile messages. However, police later discovered the she had set up the accounts herself at her home.
Prior to the discovery, her stepmother Louise Steen was arrested while her father Roy Jackson and other relatives were issued warnings. It was also revealed in court that the trolling campaign sparked a breakdown in her father’s marriage.
Judge Christopher Harvey Clark banned her from having computer equipment or contacting her relatives. He told her: "People have suffered a great deal of distress as a result of your wicked behaviour."
Meanwhile, her husband stood by his wife. Glyn Chapman said: "She is the victim, she has mental health issues and it was a cry for help. She has not had the help she needs.
"This is what you do when you're in desperate, desperate need of help - you scream out."
