Windies rout fires Harmison into top ten

Steve Harmison is one of the world's top ten bowlers, according to the latest Test rankings.

Steve Harmison's fantastic display in Jamaica has propelled him into the world's top ten bowlers, according to the latest PriceWaterhouseCooper Test rankings.

The Durham bowler earned a nine-wicket match haul in the first Test victory over West Indies, including record-breaking second innings figures of 7-12 to earn England a ten-wicket win.

And that display of clinical line-and-length fast bowling has seen him named as the joint ninth best bowler in the world, alongside New Zealand's Daryl Tuffey.

He still lies some way off table-topping Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan, however, and has three Australian bowlers ahead of him in the form of Glenn McGrath (fourth), Shane Warne (fifth) and Jason Gillespie (eighth).

Pakistan's Shoaib Akthar is second while South African Shaun Pollock is third on the list.

There was not such good news for England in the batting rankings, with no Englishman in a top ten headed by Matthew Hayden of Australia and India's Rahul Dravid.

South Africa's Jacques Kallis is third in the list - his best ever ranking - after scoring his fifth successive century against New Zealand.
