Williams confirms comeback

Robbie Williams has announced that he will return to the pop scene with new material to be released in November.

The album entitled 'Reality Killed The Video Star' will be the singer's eighth studio LP as a solo artist and the first since 2006's critically panned 'Rudebox' which, despite being  a No 1, was one of his worst-selling releases.

Williams described the new record as "a killer", adding that listeners would hear "old Robbie, new Robbie and a Robbie that neither of us have met".

He continued: "I really hope it's as good as I think it is. We'll see. I'm sure you'll let me know."

Williams revealed on his blog that he had enlisted the help of lyricist Don Black, who co-wrote one of Michael Jackson's earliest solo hits, 'Ben', and the Bond themes 'Thunderball' and 'Diamonds Are Forever'.

Williams wrote: "I was having a tough time with lyrics for a little while. Nothing would come out.

"Don Black kindly came in and gave me a helping hand. He's the nicest legend I've ever met. I love him."

The first single from the album, 'Bodies', will be released on October 11.
