Wikileaks man Julian Assange suffers lung problems say Ecuador embassy

The Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has a chronic lung infection, which is feared could worsen, according to Ecuador's embassy officials. Assange, who is currently taking refuge in London at the Ecuador embassy, is battling the UK over fears that he will be sent to Sweden.

 

Ecuador has requested that Assange receive any medical treatment needed and that Britain maintains Assange’s safety throughout this. It is understood his lung condition may be linked to his environment, as he is currently presiding in a space where there is little sunlight at this time of year.

 

Assange, who is 41-years-old, took refuge at the at Ecuadorean embassy in summer before receiving asylum from the country in August.

 

He fears being extradited to Sweden where he is expected to be questioned over allegations of sexual assault. The Australian has denied these claims.

 

It is thought that Assange also fears being sent to Sweden because he sees a potential threat from US authorities.

 

Based on reports, Assange seems to think the case is politically related, but it is understood that officials in Sweden have denied the idea that his case is political.

 

Assange will be arrested as soon as he leaves the embassy as he has breached his bail conditions.

 

The Wikileaks website reportedly published leaked sensitive information that involved different countries.
