Despite the winter weather that affected its operation in the UK, National Express revenue improved because of its school buses business in North America. The company announced that they are on the right track to start the year.
Revenue from the North American school bus business increased by 18per cent, while UK coach business saw an increase in passengers of 7per cent.
The company said that the growth in UK was due to the more direct services that they are now offering and their competitive prices.
The company also expects the revenue to grow even more later this year due to new contracts that they’re recently acquired which include contracts to operate between London Luton Airport and London’s Victoria station.
Meanwhile, the company’s like-for-like revenues at its UK bus business increased by 3per cent due to growing demand of its student travel cards.
Dean Finch, chief executive, said: “We have made a positive start to the year, continuing to deliver a high level of value and service to our customers and building our new business pipeline through regular contract wins.”
