DJ AJ, a two-year-old toddler from South Africa has emerged as the country’s youngest disc jockey. He became an internet sensation overnight after a video was posted online showing his DJ skills.
Oratilwe Hlongwane, who is tipped as the next Bill Gates, is still learning how to put words together but he is already able to select and play music from a laptop. He has since won sponsorship deals on the back of his performances, most recently at a shopping centre in Johannesburg.
His mother, Refiloe Marumo, said that the development of his skills was due to his father’s decision to buy an iPad for then unborn son and download a disc jockey app. At about a year old, DJ AJ learned how to used the gadget and began fiddling with his father’s DJ app. Recently, a mobile phone video of him playing went viral and the toddler instantly earned nearly 25,000 Facebook fans.
Hlongwane and Marumo said that they will not force their son to become a DJ when he grows up. However, they believe that his interest for electronic gadgets can help him choose his career later on.
Hlongwane said: ‘I can see a future Bill Gates here.’
