'Kill Bill' star Uma Thurman has called off her engagement, it has been reported.

The actress is said to have split from fianc Swiss financier Arpad Busson in November.

According to People magazine, multi-millionaire Busson is "beside himself" that the two are unable to reconcile.

The news comes only a matter of weeks after the actress was quoted in W magazine is being "happily engaged" but "not in a rush" to tie the knot.

They met in 2007 and he proposed a year later with an eight carat engagement ring.  

A source said of the break up: "She will probably give it back. She wants to return everything that is his.

"The engagement ended a while ago - but they remain friends."

Thurman was previously married to actor Ethan Hawke and has a son and daughter with him, while Busson has two sons with former partner Elle MacPherson.
