The Time Lord has been unsuccessfully battling the Daleks since before anyone can remember, now creators of the BBC series ‘Doctor Who’ are contemplating putting a lady in the iconic role. 

 

Bosses of the beloved series have conceded that it is becoming more likely fans will get to see the first female Doctor Who in the history of the show.

 

According to speculations, the bosses are considering having a female doctor once Matt Smith resigns from his role as the 11th Doctor.

 

TV producer Steven Moffat heightened speculations when he asked an audience of ‘Doctor Who’ viewers how they would feel about a Time Lady piloting the Tardis.

 

As reported by the Daily Mail, he said: “Can I just ask, how many people would continue watching quite happily and believe it was the same person if the Doctor turned into a woman?”

 

The responses were inconclusive, but Moffat clarified that Time Lord law would allow it to happen.

 

He pointed to the episode ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ as proof that there is a possibility for the Time Lord to turn into a woman. 

 

And at the Edinburgh Television Festival, he admitted that it would be easier for fans of today to accept a female Doctor than for fans of the show in the past. 

 

He also dropped hints that the more people talked about it, the bigger the chance it would happen. 

 

Doctor Who has been on TV for nearly 50 years, but the Doctor has never been represented by a female.

 

Actors who have played the role of the Doctor include; William Hartnell, Tom Baker, and David Tennant.

 

Female lead roles have always been restricted to that of the Doctor’s assistant, a role that has, in turn, been played only by female actors since the start of the series.

 

Currently, the role belongs to Karen Gillian.
