Dev and Sunita's relationship is set for serious turbulence now that actress Shobna Gulati is on her way out of Coronation Street.

Shobna was one of several big-name Corrie stars to be axed from the show in time for a change of producer, and the decision has prompted some wild storylines.

Dev's dirty secret is laid bare when his love child Amber turns up at the Street, to Sunita's horror.

And the wronged woman is so furious with Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) that, much like Medea in the Greek tragedy, she threatens to murder her unborn twins. And then she decides to ask for a divorce instead.

Some of Corrie's stars are clearly incensed that Shobna has been cut from Corrie. Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow, told the Daily Star: "I'm very disappointed Shobna is going. She is my best friend.

"I'd rather not comment on the atmosphere after the announcement [of the sackings]," she added.

But if it's ruthless producers that's needed to come up with exit storylines like the one for Sunita, viewers may not complain.
