The actor who plays Dev Alahan on Coronation Street has reportedly threatened to walk out, following a row with directors.
Jimmi Harkishin, who stars as the corner shop owner, yesterday left the set early, telling director Duncan Foster: "You can stuff your job," according to the Daily Mirror.
The fight followed the shooting of scenes with his former on-screen lover Maya Sharma. As one of the Street's premier plotlines Harkishin, 39, along with co-star Sasha Behar (Maya) have been putting in some of the longest hours on the show in recent weeks.
Things kicked off just after midnight yesterday: "Jimmi was told to 'cool it' after some heated rows over various bits of the filming," the Mirror's source revealed.
"He snapped back, 'Cool it? You f****** cool it. You can stuff your job, you can stuff the lot'.
"People couldn't believe what they were seeing. He stormed off and to be honest nobody thought he'd be back."
A Corrie spokeswoman told the paper last night that emotions had been running high at the time.
"There had been lots of difficult technical shoots and it is fair to say things were a little fraught," she said.
"People in general had been working very long hours, not just Jimmi, and it was decided to bring a halt to the filming.
"Everyone went home and after a good night's sleep all turned up for work and got on with the job in hand."
Upcoming storylines will see Maya plotting to burn down Dev's business before covering Dev and his new fiancee Sunita with petrol in a double-murder attempt.
