Poor Steve McDonald is set to receive a beating from the violent husband of a woman he falls for after interviewing her for a job at his Corrie cab firm.
To make matters worse, his new loves estranged partner is the boss of a rival Weatherfield taxi firm, the Daily Mirror reports.
A Coronation Street source told the paper that Steve instantly falls for Ronnie Clayton when he interviews her for a job as a driver at his firm, but is forced to sack her after his business partner Lloyd Mullaney is threatened by her husband.
But determined not to let Ronnie walk out of his life altogether, Steve seduces her over a bottle of wine and ends up vowing to confront her jealous ex, who is none too pleased to hear about their affair.
"It will be a case of thinking with his loins and not with his head. Even though he finds out she's just left her violent husband, who's looking for her, he jumps in to bed with her," the source told the Mirror.
"Steve decides he must confront her husband but a terrifying beating awaits him."
Actor Simon Gregson, who plays Steve, told Inside Soap magazine earlier this week that his character had faced a pretty rough ride after 15 years of trials and tribulations in Weatherfield, including a current on-screen custody battle with Tracy Barlow over their daughter Amy.
"Its been one thing after another for Steve, its beyond me why he isnt an alcoholic!" exclaimed Gregson.
