Irish singer announces divorce after whirlwind wedding...

Sinead O'Connor has announced she is to split from her husband of 16 days, Barry Herridge.

The singer and mother-of-four broke the news via her website, citing Herridge's friends as the reason for the break-up:

"From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me.

"Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life.

"And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink."

The Nothing Compares 2 U star - who has now been married four times - has also said she will never wed again and may not even date anyone.

Barry and Sinead married on 8 December 2011 in Las Vegas following an appeal on her blog, asking potential suitors to come forward.
