Scarlett's new cartoon role

Scarlett Johansson lands cartoon role.

The actress Scarlett Johansson is set to be the voice of Mindy, the mermaid daughter of King Neptune in The SpongeBob Square Pants Movie.

The film is scheduled to be released towards the end of the year and like the popular kid's show will be completely animated.

The actress will co-star with Jeffery Tambor as King Neptune and Alec Baldwin, who plays Dennis, a hitman hired by plankton to kill SpongeBob.

Ms Johansson recently won a BAFTA for her role in the critically acclaimed film Lost in Translation.
