Say no to illegal timber production: threat to UK bio diversity

The race to ensure that timber sold to the UK is legally sourced.

The rate at which exploitation of valuable resources in forest habitats and communities is going presently is alarming and this is due to various disturbing conditions in these countries where the forests are located.

Some months ago, March to be precise, there was a new regulation which came to effect called the European Timber Regulation.

It requires that companies undertake checks which would establish legality and in turn drastically reduce the risk at which illegal timer makes its way from its suppliers to the final consumers.

In the race to cut out the trade of illegal timber, government, departments of European member states and European companies have the required resources to stop this trade but won’t because it would cost billions and billions of dollars which will result to lost revenues for the year.

Due to the effect slated above, most countries will refuse to stop the illegal timber trade but according to the words of John Sauven from Greenpeace, he says that it would not be good if one European country enforces the law on European timber regulation and another country refuses.
