Samsung way ahead in embedded technology: launch of EMMC 5.0

The south Korean company invented ever fastest memory chip of the world.

The rate at which technology continues to advance in the mobile memory chips sector year in year out is alarming. Just about eight months ago, Samsung produced the speedy EMMC 4.5 chips and presently, the next version of NAND is already making waves.

The South-Korean company claims that it has shifted to the mass production of what it calls the world’s fastest embedded memory. The new eMMC PRO chip is built on the 64GB 10nm class NAND flash technology by Samsung and would now be the first to start using the eMMC 5.0 technology.

The chip would feature an inbuilt speed of about 400MB/s and come in its normal 16, 32 and 64 bits iterations. The 32 and 64 GB densities would have about 7000 IOPS (inputs/outputs per second) random read/write speed.

It would also have a 250MBPS sequential read speed and a 90MBPS sequential write speed. All these numbers would look strange to someone not in the computer field but they simply indicate that there would be a significant increase in performance, multi-tasking, browsing, file transfers, HD video capture, gaming and the general use of the computer.
