Russell Crowe donated to the coast guard workers who saved his life in a dramatic sea rescue that took place in September, as the team helps in the aftermath of Storm Sandy. Coast guards helped the Gladiator star when he was stranded near New York’s coastline while on a kayaking trip.
The star took to Twitter to thank the coast guards who saved his life saying: “In honour of Seth (crew member Seth Pritt) and L.I (Long Island) Coast Guard and friends on Staten Island, donated to NYC Mayors Fund and plant a million trees fund.”
Crowe is just one of the many people who were affected by Sandy. Reportedly, the production of his new film Noah was halted last week as the storm made landfall on the east coast of the US.
Based on reports, more than 100 people died during the hurricane and countless homes were destroyed. It left millions of people without power across the region.
