Rolling Stones aren’t definitely forgotten. After staging an ultra-successfulcomeback concert and launching a documentary, the band was recognized at the NME awards. Sir Mick Jagger’s group won Best Live Band. They also picked up Best Music Film for their feature-length documentary entitled Crossfire Hurricane.
Ronnie Wood, the Stones’ guitarist picked up the awards at the ceremony held at the Troxy in East London. He told The Independent: "Mick, Keith and Charlie are backstage, but they're a bit scared to come out."
Wood helped close the show by stating an impromptu performance with Johnny Marr, the former Smiths guitarist who received Godlike Genius Award. They were joined by Justin Young of The Vaccines that delighted fans even more.
NME magazine, which claims an online readership of more than one million, put David Bowie on its cover this week.
Other winners include Florence Welsh (Best Solo Artist and Dancefloor Anthem Award), Biffy Clyro (Best British Band), and Brighton band The Maccabbees (Best Album Award).
On the other hand, it seems that fans weren’t very happy with One Direction as they voted the boyband Worst Band. They also voted frontman Harry Styles as Villain of the Year.
