After a four-year absence from stand-up touring, Alan Carr is going back to his comedy roots with Spexy Beast.
The follow-up to the massively successful Tooth Fairy in 2007, Spexy Beast sees Alan share his take on the world in his trademark style.
Immediately establishing a rapport with the audience, Carr is endearing and at his chatty best; covering everything from reality television and Cher Lloyd's "good bits and bad bits" to his less-than glamorous circle of friends, Alan makes you feel like you've known him forever.
He also has a knack of focussing in on those little things about modern life that other comedians miss, giving on self-service supermarket tills, Vajazzling and chastity rings the once over.
You know what to expect from Alan and his fans won't be disappointed, but at times, the show does feel like he's pandering to the masses and avoiding certain subjects.
Regardless of this, Spexy Beast was an undeniably funny show and well worth a watch, whether live or on DVD; but whether it rivals Tooth Fairy is yet to be seen.
