A unique festival will be held to celebrate the distinctive colouring of redheads, also called ginger people. Scheduled on 6 and 7 June in Highwood, Chicago, the festival is expected to bring together ginger people from around the globe.
Another festival will also take place in the Netherlands called Roodharigendag organized by Jim Stoecker, who is a redhead himself.
"We're going to ask all the redheads to get inside for a photo shoot and if it's a beautiful day, who know, maybe we'll beat the world record!" Jim told the Chicago Tribune.
The idea to hold a festival came about after Jim visited Roodharigendag in Breda in the Netherlands in 2012.
"In Breda, the main show was just us looking at each other. You get a whole lot of redheads in a group and it's like, look at all those shapes and sizes and colors and ages.
"It's just creating a place for us to gather and laugh and have a good time."
