The Catholic Church leader, Pope Benedict XVI, has sent his first Tweet on Twitter on Wednesdaymorning to bless his followers. The Pope started Tweeting on the social network site at approximately 10.30am GMT.
His account on Twitter, which is called @Pontifex, is thought to have received around 700,000 followers as of time of press.
His post read: “Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart.”
Getting to know social media better, which is arguably becoming part of the world we live in today, the Pope sent more messages on Twitter.
One read: “How can we celebrate the Year of Faith better in our daily lives?”
With another saying: “By speaking with Jesus in prayer, listening to what he tells you in the Gospel and looking for him in those in need.”
