Harris Wittels' death was ‘possibly caused by a drug overdose’.

Parks And Recreation writer Harris Wittels has been found dead of a possible drug abuse at his Los Angeles home. He was 30.

Police confirmed that the writer, producer and comedian was found by his assistant at home and was pronounced dead at the scene. With a history of addiction, police is considering his death as possible drug overdose.

Wittels died just a few days before the series finale of the seven-season NBC comedy starting Amy Poehler.

Poehler said: “Today, I lost a friend. I lost a dear, young friend in my life who was struggling with addiction.”

Wittels popularised the term “humblebrag” with his Twitter account to satirise celebrities’ boasts masked as modesty.

Sarah Silverman, who worked with Wittels in other TV shows, said: "He was my baby. I just keep thinking of superman flying backwards around the earth. I wish I could do that. I'm so mad at you Harris"

Silverman wrote on Twitter: "You should know that Harris was brilliant beyond compare. That his imagination was without limit. That he loved comedy more than anything."

She added: "That his heart was big and he FELT hard. That he was someone who would reach out to tell you he was thinking of you for no particular reason."
