Two Olympians are victims of a supposed theft after their London 2012 medals were taken. Alex Partridge, a Team GB rower, and Hannah McLeod, a hockey player, who both received bronze at this year’s Games, have appealed on Twitter for the return of their prized possessions.

 

The medals disappeared following a reception that was held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, which was hosted by the Queen. This was held to applaud Britain’s athletes for their success at the Olympics and Paralympics.

 

The evening developed and both Partridge, aged 31, and McLeod, 28, joined the group who went to a nightclub in central London.

 

According to The Telegraph, the venue is approved of by both of Prince Charles’ sons, but it was here where the athletes left their jackets – with the medals in – unattended before they went missing.

 

The pair are thought to be devastated and have used social media site Twitter to plead for the return of their medals.

 

Partridge put a picture up on the website and posted a message addressed to: “the chap who took my @London2012 Olympic blazer & medal,” it read.

 

“The police have u on CCTV.”

 

He has said that: “If it’s an innocent mistake, fair enough. I don’t care, I just want it back.”

 

It is thought that his jacket also contained two pins which he previously earned at the Beijing and Sydney Games.

 

McLeod also posted a tweet, which read: “My medal was also stolen at the same time. Totally devastated.”

 

Partridge previously won silver at the Beijing Games in 2008.
