Nigella and Charles granted a divorce

Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi have been granted a decree nisi

Nigella Lawson, aged 53, and Charles Saatchi, aged 70, have been granted a divorce by the High Court, it has emerged on Wednesday, 31st July.

District Judge Anne Aitken granted them a decree nisi.

A decree absolute officially ends the marriage and it is understood Mr. Saatchi and Ms. Lawson are waiting for this to come through. It is thought this could take six weeks.

They have been in the news recently as images of Mr. Saatchi handling Ms. Lawson by the neck came out. The incident relates to when they were at a restaurant in London.

Mr. Saatchi initially said the incident was a ‘playful tiff’. Later he accepted a caution from police over the incident.

Mr. Saatchi and Ms. Lawson married 10 years ago.

Nigella Lawson is a food writer and broadcaster. Her first cookery book entitled 'How to Eat' was a best-seller.

She has also had a cookery programme, 'Nigella Bites', among other things.

Charles Saatchi is a businessman and art collector. He owns Saatchi Gallery.
