Ian Fleming’s estate has announced that a new James Bond novel will be released in September. Although the title is being kept under wraps, it was revealed that it was penned by award-winning author William Boyd.
The new novel will mark the return of classic Bond. Mr. Boyd will be taking Bond to his heyday of 1969, when he is 45 years old. The new novel marks the 60th anniversary of Casino Royale; Mr. Fleming’s first 007 escapade.
Mr. Boyd is the third author invited by Mr. Fleming’s estate to write an official Bond novel. Before him, the estate asked American thriller writer Jeffrey Deaver and Sebastian Faulks.
Mr. Boyd said that he accepted the offer right away, according to reports.
His previous novels include A Good Man in Africa (1981), An Ice-Cream War (1982), Brazzaville Beach (1990), Any Human Heart (2002), and Restless (2006).
