Rapper-turned-interior designer Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert VanWinkle, has been arrested for allegedly stealing furniture from a vacant house in Florida. The 47-year-old former pop star was taken into custody and has provided a sworn statement.
In December, police were investigating a burglary at a property, which is close to a nearby house that VanWinkle was renovating. Stolen items including furniture, a pool heater, and bicycles were found in his possession and were returned to the owner.
VanWinkle, who has yet to comment on the matter, will be charged when he is booked at the Palm Beach County jail. He is facing burglary and grand theft charges.
The interior designer who stars in his own TV show, “The Vanilla Ice Project” is best known for his hit song “Ice Ice Baby” which was released in 1990. He has hosted his home renovation show on the DIY Network since 2010.
In 1991, he was arrested and pleaded no content for threatening a homeless man with a gun and in 2008, he was arrested for assaulting his wife. The case was dropped two weeks later.
