Mike Baldwin will apologise to long-time rival Ken Barlow for his affair with wife Deirdre as he dies in his arms in his last scenes in 'Coronation Street'.
The ailing factory boss, played by 70-year-old Johnny Briggs, makes his peace with the retired teacher, actor Bill Roache, as slips away on the steps of Underworld.
Mike, who has been battling Alzheimer's Disease, will be seen wondering the streets confused in his pyjamas before he dies from a massive heart attack.
The apology, which refers to the Cockney's character's fling with Deidre in 1983, will be the last words Mike ever utters in the soap.
A show insider said: "Johnny and Bill are extremely close friends. To shoot these last scenes after so long together was choking for both of them."
The episode will air on Friday April 7.(C) BANG Media International
