Wheeler-dealer Mike Baldwin could be on his way out of Coronation Street.
Johnny Briggs - who plays the factory owner - will see his contract expire this year and the actor has hinted he will not renew it.
An insider from the Street commented: "It would be a massive blow if Johnny leaves - but new characters have been signed up to step into his shoes."
Briggs told The Sun: "I'm thinking of leaving or at least cutting down my hours when my contract comes up for renewal.
"When I started we were filming two episodes a week and now we're doing five which puts a lot more pressure on the cast. I'm keen to spend more time abroad but also I'd like to try other acting work like movies."
The news comes just days after Bruno Langley - who plays sexually confused youngster Todd - said he would leave the soap after four years.
Mike Baldwin has been ruffling feathers on Corrie for 28 years. Over the years he has had a string of affairs and clashes with nemesis Ken Barlow.
Briggs' contract is reportedly worth 200,000-a-year - it is set to expire in September.
