Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mum and formerly the legal guardian of Michael’s three children, has lost custody of Prince Michael, Paris, and Prince Michael 2. The court hearing in which he lost the custody of the three children came after she went ‘missing’ for ten days, thus ‘deserting’ the children.
Michael’s mum spoke up in an interview while surrounded by her three children – Michael’s siblings – namely Janet, Jermaine, and Rebbie. She said: “I am devastated that my grandchildren have been taken from me.”
According to her, the court hearing that led to this decision was ‘based on a bunch of lies.’ She claims that she just needed a rest and that she was not kidnapped. She plans to file a motion to be reinstated as guardian upon her return.
The statement was released while Katherine was at a luxury resort – the same one where she had supposedly been staying the whole time. In the interview, she was reading from a prepared statement and looked confused at some points, even once calling her grandson Prince ‘my nephew’.
Despite her reassurances that her absence was not against her will, the matriarch couldn’t explain why she had not informed her three grandchildren about her intention to take a short vacation.
Temporary custody of the three, as well as the $500m estate that comes with it, will now go to TJ, Katherine’s nephew. Based on court papers, TJ claimed that he had already been involved in taking care of the children prior to the incident. TJ had been staying with the three kids while their grandmother was away.
