Sir Paul McCartney loves using public transport.

The millionaire musician says he regularly hops on buses and trains if he wants to get somewhere fast.

McCartney, 63, claims his fellow passengers are shocked by his presence.

He said: "People always expect you to be riding around in stretch limousines, but I will sometimes take public transport if it's convenient. It does surprise people. You see the heads turn."

Sir Paul has also revealed how he played agony aunt to a woman on a New York bus.

The former Beatle was recognised by the fellow passenger, but rather than being star-struck she told him her life story.

He told America's Billboard magazine: "I needed to get uptown, so I took a bus.

"This black lady said, 'Hey, you Paul McCartney?' and started getting quite loud. I said, 'Yeah, but I don't want any trouble off you, babe.' She just laughed.

"Then I said, 'If you're going to talk to me, come over here and sit by me.' So she did, and I heard her entire life history!"
