'Mass hysteria' as Nando's restaurant runs out of chicken

Some customers took to Twitter to complain that a branch in Leicester was temporarily unable to serve some of its signature dishes on Wednesday.

Believe it or not, Nando’s restaurant was unable to serve some of its signature dishes on Wednesday night because it run out of chicken.

One customer tweeted: "I don't want to cause mass hysteria but NandosUK in Leicester has run out of chicken - I'm still coming to terms with what happened"

The popular Portuguese-themed restaurant prides itself on its vast poultry menu, but on Wednesday night, furious diners were forced to miss out on tucking into their prized chickens.

Steffan Powell wrote on Twitter: "So I'm in NandosUK in Leicester...and there is no chicken... I repeat NO Chicken..."

Declan Harvey tweeted: "NandosUK So... There are no chickens at your Leicester restaurant. Talk to me about that...??!!!!"

A Nando's spokeswoman said: "Our Leicester Granby Street restaurant experienced an incredibly busy weekend.

"Many customers were rushing to use their final remaining chillies on their old paper loyalty rewards cards, and we also launched Online Takeaway.

"The restaurant unfortunately ran out of some chicken options, but only for a short period of time. We would like to apologise to those customers who couldn't get their preferred PERi-PERi meal."
