Retailer Marks & Spencer has seen a dip in sales when it comes to clothing. The firm has reported a fall of 1.6per cent for its clothing business during the 13 weeks to June 29th. This marks the eighth quarter that M&S has seen a drop in clothing sales.
Although, M&S has said general merchandise – which includes clothing – was showing improvement for the quarter.
Chief Executive Marc Bolland said: “Our general merchandise business showed some improvement this quarter and the food business delivered another excellent performance, continuing the strong underlying trend.”
And in other areas, the group saw a 1.8per cent increase in like-for-like sales in the UK in regards to its food. Also, international sales are understood to have risen by 8.7per cent.
M&S also saw that their online sales rose by approximately 30per cent.
The firm are expected to hold their yearly meeting at Wembley Stadium in London on Tuesday, 9th July, 2013.
Mr. Bolland took his post with M&S after working for the supermarket group Morrisons.
Marks & Spencer was founded in Leeds in 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer.
