Mariah reveals pregnancy

Mariah Carey has finally confirmed she is pregnant, after months of speculation.

The superstar, who is married to Nick Cannon, revealed the joyous news on U.S. TV yesterday but also confided that the couple had had a bad experience in that past.

Mariah, 40 and Nick, 30 told of their torment of having miscarried just after their marriage in 2008 and disclosed that this was the reason they had been careful to share the news this time round.

In an exclusive preview for the three-part interview for the Today Show, due to air this week, the pair reveal the heartache they suffered at learning that their previous pregnancy had been “unsuccessful”.

They had been due to take a trip to Aspen, Colorado when a last-minute ultrasound revealed the devastating news.

Nick said: “Even though it was emotional for both of us, that's when I really saw the strength in this woman right here. She just handled it so well.

“And then to get on a plane and have to spend Christmas with friends and family, and no one knew. I felt like everybody was kind of speculating.”

Mariah added that the loss of the child had brought them closer together and that they do not know yet of the sex of their new baby.
