'Desperate Housewives' star Marcia Cross has confessed she sought help from a therapist as she tried to break-up with her first love.
The flame-haired actress, who plays neurotic Bree Van De Kamp in the hit show, knew her boyfriend was going to get hurt when she ended their relationship and wanted a therapist to give her advice to do it as pain-free as possibly.
She said: "I had to break-up with my first love and didn't know how to do it. I didn't want to hurt somebody. So I had therapy and saw the value of it. "This idea people have that we should cope on our own is erroneous."
Marcia says she has returned to therapy several times - especially when she had to cope with the death of her partner Richard John in 1993.
She added: "I had some hard things to deal with in the last decade - a lot of soul searching and growing. Someone I loved died. You go to doctors for everything else, why not take care of our emotional health."
