Man suspected of role in Delhi gang rape found dead

A suspect in the Delhi gang rape case, Ram Singh, 33, has been found dead in a prison cell at Tihar jail it has emerged. Now an in investigation is expected to take place into his death.

 

The man, along with others, stood accused of being involved in the Delhi case. They all deny any involvement.

 

 

 

This relates to the death of a young woman following an attack on a bus in India in December. The female student was raped during the attack and later died as a result of her injuries.

 

Based on reports, some people think Mr. Singh allegedly committed suicide. While others - including the female victim’s family - supposedly think it could have been murder. As of time of press the details surrounding his death are unknown.

 

R P N Singh, of India’s Ministry of home Affairs, told journalists: “There is already an inquiry which has been ordered by Tihar jail on suicide of the main accused. We are enquiring into the matter.”

 

A family member of the student said that the “police have failed” and that it is questionable “what will happen to the case now”.

 

The woman and a male were both left dumped on the side of the road following the attack last year. There has been much debate over the predicaments facing women in India since the incident took place last year.
