Madonna's ten minute sell out

Madonna's forthcoming shows at New York's Madison Square Garden sold out in just ten minutes.

The singer's 'Confessions' world tour - named after her number one album 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' - starts in Los Angeles on May 21.

The 47-year-old star is playing 40 shows all over the world, including dates in London, Paris, Miami and Montreal.

A spokeswoman for Madonna said: "It's incredibly exciting and Madonna's very pleased with the response."

Fans who have missed out on tickets now face paying over the odds if they want to see their idol.

Tickets for Madonna's opening show in Los Angeles are already fetching £608 a pair on the internet.

The star's last tour pocketed her around £45 million.
