Madonna stole the show at the star-studded MTV awards in Lisbon last night (03.11.05).
The 47-year-old star proved she is still the undisputed Queen of Pop when she burst onstage from a giant glitter ball.
Wearing a skimpy purple leotard and $40,000 worth of sparkling diamonds on her eyelashes, the star wowed the crowd with a dazzling performance of new single 'Hung Up'.
She said after the show: "Being in front of all the people and waiting to see the audience beforehand, my heart was just pumping out of my chest."
Performances also came from Green Day, System of a Down and cartoon band Gorillaz, who wowed fans with jaw dropping onstage animations.
Big winners at the bash included Coldplay, Green Day and Shakira.
Coldplay notched up gongs for Best UK & Ireland Act and Best Single for 'Speed of Sound'.
The band were beaten in the Best Rock Act and Best Album categories by US punk trio Green Day.
Best Female category went to Colombian-born Shakira, Snoop Dogg won Best Hip-Hop and Best Pop went to the Black Eyed Peas.
Live 8 organiser Bob Geldof drew huge cheers when Madonna presented him with the Free Your Mind award for his efforts to stamp out world poverty.
