Lionel Richie thanked Glastonbury for helping make his compilation album, The Definitive Collection By Lionel Richie & The Commodores the number one in the charts. This is his first in more than two decades.
The album reached number 10 when it was released in 2003 but thanks to Lionel’s show-stealing performance at Glastonbury, the album hit the top spot.
"I was overwhelmed performing at Glastonbury in front of all those people and for the fans to make the album number one is unbelievable," he said.
"The UK has always been a special place for me, thank you, I love you all."
Other performers at the Glastonbury show enjoy the same success are the Florence + The Machine who after replacing Foo Fighters as headliners at the festival, found their way to number two. Meanwhile. James Bay is in the number three spot.
