Nick Lachey wished he had caught estranged wife Jessica Simpson in bed with another man - because it would have made their split easier.

The star has revealed his divorce from the singer-turned-actress would have been less complicated if had witnessed her cheating.

Nick said: "Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked in the house and found her in bed with a man. That would be clear-cut. End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery."

The couple, who married in 2002 and shot to fame on MTV show 'Newlyweds', split five months ago and are in the middle of divorce proceedings.

Nick has now criticised the series for coming between him and Jessica - who he claims performed for the cameras.

He revealed in an interview with America's Rolling Stone magazine: "It became a really blurred line. There was a question about what truly was our reality."

Heart-broken Nick has also revealed he was the last person to know he was getting divorced when he was told by father-in-law Joe Simpson.

He said: "I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over. I was told."
