Aging rocker Keith Richards is to play Johnny Depp's father in the upcoming sequel to Pirates Of The Caribbean.
Depp admitted to modelling his on-screen character, Captain Jack Sparrow, on the Rolling Stones guitarist in the 2003 blockbuster.
He explained during the publicity tour for the last film: "I sort of thought that pirates would be the rock and roll stars of the 18th century. And the greatest rock 'n' roll star of all time is Keith Richards. Hands down."
According to reports, Mr Richards agreed to a four-day shoot after much insistence from Depp himself.
There are plans to shoot the two sequels back-to-back and the first of the two will be titled Pirates Of The Caribbean: Treasures Of The Lost Abyss.
Filming for the sequel is due to begin in February and once again under the guidance of director Gore Verbinski.
