25-year-old midfielder Juan Mata’s transfer from Chelsea to Manchester has been made official after the former accepted the latter’s record £37m bid.
Mata will undergo medical to complete the move to the Premiere League Champions. The player is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year deal at Old Trafford.
He also already said goodbye to teammates and staff at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Wednesday.
The Spanish international, who has won a total of 32 caps, will be arriving at United’s Carrington training ground by helicopter on Thursday. Manager David Moyes, who was asked about Mata said: "A lot of the work we are doing now is in preparation for the summer.”
"If we can do any business now then we will certainly try to do it, but I will not compromise the standards required for a player that can come into this club and help improve it."
United has been planning to rebuild their team under Moyes who made no secret of their plans to pay a premium in order to secure top players.
