Jessica Simpson hospitalised

Jessica Simpson was rushed to hospital on Monday (21.02.05) with a stomach bug.

The sexy singer, who stars in MTV's 'Newlyweds' with husband Nick Lachey, was filming for 'The Oprah Winfrey' show when she began experiencing severe stomach cramps.

She was admitted to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

Her spokesman, Brad Cafarelli, later revealed she had returned home and was "feeling better".

Last year, Jessica was forced to cancel two American concerts after being struck down with a kidney infection.

She had been due to perform to a packed audience in Providence, Rhode Island, but pulled out at the last minute after being taken to hospital.

The 24-year-old blonde had hoped to recover in time for a concert the following day but was forced to cancel again.

In statement released to her disappointed fans, Jessica said: "I'm having the best time doing this tour, and I'm so disappointed I have to miss tonight's show. I appreciate everyone's get-well wishes and, as soon as my doctor says it's okay, I'll be back onstage doing what I love. I hope to see my fans soon."
