The investigation into Michael Jackson's death has been completed, it has been reported.

Six months after detectives started, the case has been closed, and now the singer's personal physician Dr Conrad Murray is likely to be criminally charged with his death.

According to TMZ, the case will be formerly presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney as soon as scheduling allows.

Murray could face charges in the next few weeks.

A source told gossip website TMZ the investigation was "exhaustive" and "extremely thorough" and there was enough evidence for a criminal case against the doctor.

The case is particularly complex as Murray did not break any laws when he administered the powerful pain reliever Propofol. He is likely however to be charged with involuntary manslaughter, which requires a showing of gross negligence, TMZ reports.

Dr Murray, who was not charged after the 'Thriller' singer's death, has since returned to practice, treating patients in the Armstrong Medical Clinic in Houston, Texas.

In related news, a disgruntled Los Angeles resident is suing the Michael Jackson estate for $3.3m (£2m).

Angry about the cost of the singer's memorial footed by the cash strapped city, LA taxpayer Jose F Vallejos is seeking to recoup the money spent on extra policing and sanitation for the pop sensation's memorial.

Vallejos' claim states that the money should be returned to the LA treasury.

While the memorial cost the city millions, it reportedly earned $4 million for the cityÂ’s hotels, restaurants and local businesses.
