If you are finding it hard to stick to the New Year diet plan, you're not alone. According to new research, 85% of women are likely to have already ditched their diets.
But what about the typical 3-5lbs we have gained over Christmas? A new dress claims to have the solution, and could take as much as an inch and a half off waistlines.
Using clever nip and tuck technology, the 'Tummy Tamer' clothing range from George at Asda could give you the perfect hour glass shape you desire and is set to fly off the rails.
Rather than unflattering 'Bridget Jones' style big corset pants, the new black dress and pencil skirt feature hidden control to pinch in the flab and give you great curves.
Clever panels across the hips and waist form an internal corset designed to smooth the stomach and hip areas.
The dress is also said to enhance cleavage in women of all dress sizes, from 8 to 20, so it's not only tummies that will be improved by wearing it.
George brand director, Fiona Lambert, said: "A prominent bust and hips create the perfect curved figure, however for those without the vital attributes who want to make the most of what they have, help is at hand in the form of the new 'Tummy Tamer' dress and skirt, which will help all shapes and sizes achieve the ultimate hourglass figure in an instant."
She added: "There's no need for women to slave away in the gym or diet to achieve the perfect shape as we should be celebrating our curves not trying to get rid of them. Celebrities that embrace their bodies and are happy and healthy like Alesha Dixon, Leona Lewis and Colleen Nolan are far more inspirational to women than Kate Moss or Cheryl Cole."
To mark the launch of the new control clothing, Asda asked shoppers about their body shape preference. 72% of men said they favoured a woman with curves, with particular attention to a full bust, small waist and rounded bottom.
Likewise, women wanted to achieve a shapelier figure, with 61% of aspiring for the sexy curves sported by the likes of Beyonce, and British favourites, Leona Lewis, Alesha Dixon and Kelly Brook. The slender figures of stars like Cheryl Cole and Kate Moss came bottom of the list.
George teamed up with psychologist Dr David Holmes to carry out research into the perfect shape.
He said: "Curves and the hourglass figure without fail trigger the male hormonal system, sets pulses racing and play a major factor in the desire stakes of attraction. Men cannot explain why the specific line of the female form is attractive to them. It's not a juvenile 'page three' fascination, but part of natural evolution.
"The human curve has come to represent the healthiest and most fertile form, highlighting the most suitable breeding partner and has evolved to be universally attractive to males for that reason. The perfect curve also impacts on other females creating mixed responses of both respect and jealousy!"
Curvaceous figures are set to make a welcome comeback in 2010 as plus-sized models become the norm on the catwalk and, according to research, men find shapelier women more attractive.
The knee-length black dress (£28) and pencil skirt (£16) are made from polyester and feature the same 'inch-pinching' poly elastane technology employed in some control underwear to smooth out lumps and bumps without having to buy separate supporting underwear.
The 'Tummy Tamer' range is available in sizes 8-20 on George.com and all Asda Living stores and is set to be a sure-fire hit while stocks last!
